Recovery is possible from eating disorders and other addictions.

I REALLY GOTTA QUIT! Break Free From Eating Disorders & Other Addictions

Are you, or someone you care about, struggling with an eating disorder-anorexia, bulimia or binge eating-or with gambling, alcohol, or drugs? Perhaps, it may be that you can’t control the urge to shop or to work beyond reasonable limits.

In their book, Craving for Ecstasy, Drs. Milkman and Sunderwirth, conclude that there are essential biological, psychological, and social similarities that underlie the uncontrollable need for any substance or behavior. Addiction is evident, therefore, when a person becomes progressively unable to control the beginning or end of a need-fulfilling activity.

In this session, “Nurse Audrey” will share with you her own life experience in overcoming a 20-year debilitating eating disorder. She will, with understanding and care, provide you with relevant information, resources, and encouragement to help you deal with your own addiction and provide steps to recovery for yourself or for a loved one you know.

Participants will:

* identify the root causes for all addictions/compulsions

* become aware of the many influences that draw one toward addiction

* become aware of the life-threatening consequences of addiction

* realize that with the right mix of determination and help, recovery is possible bringing the restoration of health and personal productivity

* depression can lead to addiction, and addiction can lead to depression
